According to the 2016 Schooling in America Survey by EdChoice, 63 percent of parents would choose an option other than a traditional public school if they were able to select the school their child could attend. Parents support education choice because it empowers them to fully direct the education of their child. It gives their child access to a quality education. It improves their student’s academic achievement and increases college readiness and persistence. It puts more money directly into the classroom.
Anita Belcher spoke with the Alliance for School Choice about her son:
The first week he was at his new school he cried! He literally cried because he didn’t want to leave. It brought me to tears. That’s the great thing about the scholarship, you get to decide where you want to place your child or if you even want to home school.
This poster is a great conversation-starter. It might also help you END disagreements with education choice opponents, because it arms you with the facts you need to respond to their arguments.
Opponents of education choice – politicians, union bosses, and big corporations that profit from the public education cartel – are preventing parents from choosing the schools their children attend. It’s time these opponents stopped blocking the doors.
Display this poster in your school, on your office door, or on a community bulletin board. Spark conversations and debates by challenging the status quo. Explain how parents want education choice and how students must be allowed access to a quality education instead of stuck in a school that does not work for them!
